A Major Turning Point
The 13th Amendment was a major turning point in history because of all the lives it affected and the change it brought to America. Because the amendment abolished slavery, all black people were free and did not have to suffer any longer in captivity. It greatly affected white people's lives because they had to cope with the new society. The cotton industry could no longer be dependent on slaves. The 13th Amendment lead to the 14th and 15th Amendments; equal citizenship and voting rights for black people. The 13th Amendment even lead to the 19th Amendment; voting rights for all women. All these Amendments have brought great justice to American society. If not for the 13th Amendment, these other Amendments may never have happened.
